My Psalm

Hands held together holding light image

Holy God and Father of Mercy

I fear that failure becomes me,

For purity alludes me,

And Your nearness evades me.

My soul is downcast.

My heart is heavy with guilt.

My eyes have wandered.

My thoughts have been unfaithful.

These sins I have dismissed

And counted them for naught.

Denying the truth,

I believed a lie and continued in my sin.

I am burdened.

I am broken.

I am sad.

I am mournful, but I am not alone.

Wretched sinner that I am,

I cast my weary soul at Your feet, begging for purity.

As Job before me, this day I make a covenant with my eyes

Not to look at a woman to lust.

Before You, O Lord, I make this pledge.

I will bring every thought into captivity in obedience to Christ.

In holiness,

I will honor You.

In submission,

I will love You.

In my body and in my spirit,

I will glorify You, Almighty God.

Amen.
