Let Me Be Loved

Snowfall on lake image

Let your love fall down on me gently

Like snowflakes on Lake Champetra

For I am weak and fragile

And find it hard to receive love

Let your presence surround me slowly

Like smoke billowing from a fire

For I am unworthy of your holy touch

And find the gift of your presence overwhelming

Let me hear you say again, “I love you”

Then I will believe it was You and not me

Let me sense calm assurance of trust

And know my fleeting contentment need not depart

Let fear loosen its grip

On my every thought, my every moment

Heal me, Father, of the sickness

That whispers I am not good enough

Heal me, Jesus, of the past

That preached you are not enough

Heal me, Spirit, of the darkness

That shadows Your light in my soul

Truth, God, show me how to take hold

Of the truth that I am Yours

Make me at peace in Your loving presence

Let me be loved
