Certain Words

Image of a Holy Bible being held in front of a man in a suit

They search the universe,

Gazing at the stars,

Listening to the heavens,

Hoping to find certainty.

When right at our fingertips,

We have the certain words

From prophets long ago,

And we push them aside and never know.

They browse the halls of libraries,

Perusing volumes

Of books and commentaries,

Hoping an answer lies within.

When right at our fingertips

We have the certain words

From prophets long ago,

And we push them aside and never know.

Father give us ears to hear

The words made certain.

Give us hearts that pay attention

To the light shining in a dark place

Until the day dawns and

The morning star

Rises in our hearts.

When rising from our fingertips,

We read from prophets long ago

Certain words of faith, hope, and love,

And we listen and we follow.
