wedding portrait of author and wife image

I saw you today

Out of the corner of my eye

I looked at you as you looked away

You looked so pretty

Dancing in the middle of Broadway

In a downtown parade

We crossed paths today

At the drug store

Getting sodas for a treat

Your arm brushed against mine

I blushed

And looked at you as you looked away

Our hometown beat yours in ball today

I cheered against you

As I sat next to another

You looked so beautiful

Running up and down the court

And you looked at me as I looked away

We met for the first time today

You were glamorous and tan

Waiting for me at the lake

I walked past you

As you teasingly ignored me

And I looked at you and you looked at me

We spent the summer together

Everyday was blessed

By your charm and grace

We kissed and cuddled

We exchanged “I love you”

As I looked at you and you looked at me

You gave yourself to me today

I was enraptured by your touch

You were perfect and pure

Yet, you wondered about another

Though she was long forgotten

I looked at you as you looked away

I should have saved myself for you.
