A Father's Walk with Jesus

Image of me with all three kids on my lap image

I walked beside my Lord today

And listened as He spoke.

He told me that I slipped again

and failed to show His love.

He was in my home yesterday

And saw me lose control.

He said He was disappointed

In the harsh words I chose.

I told Him of my frustration,

I told Him that I cared,

I told Him I am conflicted

By the anger that I feel.

He said He’s always in my heart

and knows the place He holds.

He knows I dearly love Him.

He knows how hard I try.

Suddenly I stopped to ask Him,

Why do you let me fail?

I want to give them grace,

But shame is what they feel.

Tears filled His eyes with compassion,

For He knows how much I love them.

He said His grace is sufficient

To make them feel secure.

Then He said let’s just keep walking,

For when I am by your side,

They’ll see My love and devotion

And know how hard you’ve tried.

They’ll feel unconditional love.

They’ll forgive as You have,

And they’ll know they have a Savior

To always walk beside.
